FAMILIES in Dumbarton and the Vale who are eligible for help with the cost of school uniforms are being urged to apply to an expanded Scottish Government fund.
The national school clothing grant is being increased to at least £120 per eligible primary pupil and at least £150 per eligible secondary pupil.
The expanded scheme is being supported by extra Scottish Government funding of £11.8 million to local authorities.
Parents in West Dunbartonshire who received support last year will automatically be considered this year if they get housing benefit and/or council tax reduction, but those who received help last year and don’t receive either benefit will have to supply a new tax credit award letter to enable the council to make a decision.
