A DUMBARTON woman who threatened members of the public was “at the end of her tether”, a court has heard.

Nicole Coulthard’s lawyer said his client’s outburst was part of a lengthy dispute with a local family – and said she planned to move away from the area to get away from the trouble.

Coulthard, 29, of Crosslet Road, appeared at the town’s sheriff court for sentencing on Friday.

She had previously admitted repeatedly shouting, adopting an aggressive demeanour and uttering threats in McGregor Lane in Renton in separate incidents on July 21 and August 1 last year.

Jonathan Paul, defending, said Coulthard had been on the receiving end of abuse for “months and months” prior to the incidents, having refused to give in to a demand from the family that she perjure herself – whereupon, Mr Paul said, “all hell broke loose”.

“She accepts she should not have behaved in the way she did,” Mr Paul added. “She feels she will have to escape from this area.”

Fining Coulthard £50 on each charge, plus a £10 “victim surcharge”, Sheriff Simon Fraser said: “I understand you wish to move south to get away.

“That is a desire that’s entirely familiar to me.”
