A GIANT cruise ship which has been docked on the River Clyde for more than a year will steam past Clydebank, Dumbarton and Helensburgh today on her way to the open sea.

The Azamara Quest will depart from King George V Dock near Braehead in Renfrew having being berthed there since June 2020 when the travel industry was shut down during the Covid pandemic.

The ship, along with sister vessels Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Journey, attracted crowds of onlookers last year when it arrived in the area - and more people are expected to flock to the Clyde's shores today (Monday) when it finally leaves at around 12.30pm.

Over the past year a skeleton crew remained onboard to care for the vessel – which can hold almost 700 passengers.
