A WOMAN who set up a walking group to encourage all women to take to the hills is getting ready to host her first event in Milton.
Experienced walker Gaby Macbeth set up Skylark Guiding to demystify hillwalking and encourage women to get outdoors and meet new friends.
The Glasgow native is planning to take a group up Doughnot Hill, within the Kilpatrick Hills, on Thursday, August 26.
Participants are being asked to meet at Overtoun House in Dumbarton at 6.30pm, from where they will set off with the aim of reaching the top of the hill, 375 metres above sea level, in time to watch the sun setting at 8.28pm.
The walk, up to three hours in duration, has an ascent of 300 metres and covers a distance of 8km along field and hill trails.
Tickets can be purchased online by searching for “sunset on a hill” on Eventbrite, with the group operating a pay-what-you-can policy.
