A FUNFAIR in Alexandria will get under way tonight (Friday) after being given the green light by councillors.
The event at the Bank Street car park in the town kicks off at 5pm on August 20.
A public entertainment licence was granted by West Dunbartonshire Council's licensing committee on Wednesday.
The licence allows the fair to operate from 12 noon until 9pm this weekend and next (August 21/22 and August 28/29), and from 5-9pm on August 20, 23, 26 and 27.
Applicant Cameron Codona, of High Blantyre, had previously asked for permission for various dates between July 29 and August 8, but then changed the dates for operational issues.
Plans for a similar event last summer were cancelled at the last minute amid fears over whether it could comply with the Covid restrictions which were in place at the time.
West Dunbartonshire Council’s licensing committee granted the application on August 18 after hearing there had been no objections.
