AN INTREPID young swimmer is making final preparations to tackle the chilly waters of Loch Lomond this weekend to raise money for the area’s volunteer lifeboat.
Orlagh Kelly will be undertaking her first open water swim on Saturday, September 4 as part of the 250m length of the GoSwim event in Balloch.
The 12-year-old is hoping to raise £250 for the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat, whose volunteers were called out to the tragic incidents last month in which four people drowned in the loch in little more than 24 hours.
As this edition of the Reporter went to print, Orlagh had collected just under £210.
Her online fund-raiser is available via the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat Facebook page.
