PLANS have been unveiled to demolish and replace a railway bridge – and to close a major road between Dumbarton and the Vale in the process.
Network Rail wants to demolish and rebuild the bridge carrying the A812 Renton Road over the Dumbarton-Balloch railway line, next to the A82 flyover, and to change the height and extent of the bridge parapets.
In documents submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council (WDC), a Network Rail official says the road will be closed between September 25 and October 29.
Buses will also replace trains between Dumbarton and Balloch on September 25 and 26 so the work can take place.
However, council officials have now told the company on two separate occasions that the application is invalid because information supplied to the authority is incomplete or a required fee has not been paid.
