A MAN who was convicted of lifting up a woman’s T-shirt and exposing her breast has been fined £600.

John Allen, of Castlegreen Street, Dumbarton, was found guilty after a trial of the common assault that took place in the same street on May 23, 2019.

At a sentencing hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on September 1, Sheriff Frances McCartney said she found there was not a significant sexual element to the offence, and that as a result of that finding, Allen, 60, did not need to be added to the sex offenders register.

Sheriff McCartney said she was persuaded to impose the unusual sentence on Allan of a £600 fine for the offence, to be paid at £40 per month.
