PEOPLE in Dumbarton and the Vale are being encouraged to learn how to swim by the country’s most successful athlete at this summer’s Olympic Games.
Duncan Scott has given his backing to the ‘Learn to Swim’ initiative, a partnership between Scottish Swimming and Scottish Water which was launched four years ago.
A Learn to Swim month digital toolkit has been sent to West Dunbartonshire Leisure and a series of promotional videos are being created by Scottish Swimming to help encourage children into the programme.
Duncan, who won a gold medal and three silvers in Tokyo last month, said: “Learning to swim is a life skill and it’s so important for everyone to learn how to be safe and confident in the water.
"I’ve always enjoyed swimming, it’s an essential skill to have and fun to learn too.”
