AN Alexandria man caught with hundreds of pounds worth of drugs has been jailed.

Alan Campbell, of Manse Drive, Haldane, previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin, amphetamine and cannabis from two properties in the Vale.

The 40-year-old had heroin and amphetamine at both Shandon Brae, Balloch, and at his Manse Drive home, on March 14, 2020.

On March 14, 2020, police were in an unmarked vehicle when they saw Campbell in Miller Road at Shandon Brae, Balloch and he appeared unsteady on his feet. They stopped to check his welfare and didn't smell alcohol on him so determined he was under the influence of controlled drugs.

They found a knotted bag with white powder on Campbell, who then told them: "Here, I will just give you what I got."

Officers then found a bag with brown powder, which was confirmed to be 14g of diamorphine, worth £350. The white powder was amphetamine worth between £450 and £600.

Police put his door in with a search warrant on June 24, this year, in Manse Drive, and found brown powder within a hairbrush in the kitchen, heard Dumbarton Sheriff Court on September 14.

Sheriff William Gallacher interrupted to check if that was accurate, and fiscal depute Rebecca Reid confirmed the drugs were in a hairbrush.

There were further discoveries of green herbal material in a bedroom.

There was a total of £360 worth of cannabis and between £360 and £400 of heroin recovered.

Sheriff Gallacher said he had read the paperwork for the case with "incredulity" and expressed surprise it had been reduced from a more serious solemn level.

He sentenced Campbell to eight months in jail, backdated to August 25.
