The latest sporting stars of the future have been revealed as two youngsters from Dumbarton.

Active Schools announce their Young Sports Stars of the Month for September 2021 as Abi Brennan and Ava Breeze from St Patrick’s Primary in Dumbarton.

Abi has been dancing for five years at Hunter School of Dance in Clydebank, and has recently participated in the World Dance Championships, gaining individual and group medals as well as placing in the top 10 in seven out of eight dances.

She does tap, ballet, jazz and acro and also attends the prestigious Scottish Ballet School as part of their Junior Associate Programme.

In total Abi trains for approximately eight hours per week dancing and also participates in gymnastics classes at weekends.

Ava has been horse riding for five years and never misses a weekend at the stables.

Over the years she has squired eight rosettes with the latest achieved at her first ever Dressage show where she scored an impressive 70 per cent.

During the pandemic when she was unable to ride for several months she set herself a goal to be able to canter when she could return and Ava has achieved her goal and more - she is now doing canter jumps.

The Active Schools Team are looking for new volunteers to help get children in West Dunbartonshire more active, more often.
