Police are urging pet owners to keep their animals under control after a lamb was slain by a dog in Alexandria.

The 'livestock worrying' incident took place over the weekend, between 9am on Saturday, October 30, and 8am on Sunday, October 31.

A Texel Cross Hog lamb was fatally wounded by a dog near to Gartlea Farm.

PC Jack Baker, of Dumbarton Police Station, said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this incident or anyone who may have information in relation to it.

"We are also appealing to dog walkers to ensure they have control of their dogs, and that they are kept on a lead especially when walking in areas where livestock are present.

"This incident has caused the death of an animal and is being fully investigated."
