Pupils at a Dumbarton secondary school have been warned that "derogatory TikTok videos" will not be tolerated.
Our Lady and St Patrick High School parents and carers have been sent a letter stating that staff have been made aware of "a number of TikTok accounts and videos" that included images and derogatory comments about teaching staff and pupils.
The letter, sent out by OLSP head teacher Christopher Smith and written in partnership with Laura Mason, West Dunbartonshire Council's chief education officer, was posted on the school's social media pages, warning parents and carers over the appropriate use of mobile phones.
It states: "We are aware of a number of TikTok accounts and videos that have been created that include images of and derogatory comments about our teaching staff and pupils.
"I am sure you can imagine how upsetting this can be for anyone subjected to this.
"We are currently taking advice from Police Scotland and youth engagement officers within our schools. Action will be taken as appropriate against any pupil found to have been involved in the creation of this content.
"I would ask for your support by reminding your children that mobile phones should not be used in class and must remain in pupils’ bags at all times during lessons."
A spokesperson from West Dunbartonshire Council said: "Our employees and pupils deserve to work in a safe and secure environment, where their privacy is respected. Appropriate action will be taken against any pupil found to have been involved in the creation or sharing of videos online without individuals consent."
