The Skylark IX Recovery Project took to Dumbarton High Street last week to give out free scones and spread a little thoughtfulness for World Kindness Day.

The scones were baked fresh that morning by volunteer trainees at Alternatives Drug Recovery Service’s Sweet Success café in the Concord Community Centre.

Claire McDade, Project Manager at the Skylark IX Recovery Project, explained: “We were delighted to support West Dunbartonshire Council’s #ShowKindnessWD campaign and play our role in World Kindness Day.

“It was lovely to work with our partners at Alternatives Drug Recovery Service, give out their delicious, freshly baked scones and jam to members of the public and update everyone on the work of the Skylark IX Recovery Project as we went along.

“Everyone we spoke to on Dumbarton High Street was lovely and the volunteer trainees at Alternatives’ Sweet Success Café enjoyed the challenge of stepping up production for such a worthwhile cause!”

The Skylark IX Recovery Project is currently asking members of the public to vote online at skylarkix.co.uk and help them win a For the People Award of £10,000.

The prize money would go towards maintaining the Skylark IX Recovery Project’s skiff building training workshop on Castle Street for volunteer trainees recovering from addictions.

The Skylark IX Recovery Project’s ‘Skylark IX in Stitches’ adult textile group also donated soup ingredients, cakes and biscuits to their host venue, Lennox Evangelical Church for World Kindness Day.

Alternatives’ Sweet Success Cafe in the Concord Community Centre is open between 11am and 3pm Tuesday to Friday,
