A PAIR of cousins are looking to hire 40 staff to help elderly residents in Dumbarton and the Vale.

Chris Dunn and Austin Sweeney have decided to start their own care company that offers home care for elderly and infirm people.

Home Instead West Dunbartonshire, based at the town’s Strathleven House, will support people who require care, but want to stay living in their own homes.

Mr Dunn worked for many years with carers who have supported his autistic son, while Mr Sweeney recently had the challenge of working with carers to look after his father, who had dementia.

That meant the pair saw the care sector as a natural area in which they could join forces.

“It was my job to support a vast workforce, so I have learnt what it takes to maintain a person’s wellbeing,” said Mr Dunn.

“That, along with my personal experience with care, stands me in excellent stead to provide bespoke home care in the community.

“I want to give local older adults the later years that they deserve.”

Home Instead West Dunbartonshire is now looking to hire 40 caregivers over the next year.

The company says it has roles suitable for people whether they have previous experience in care or not.

Mr Sweeney said: “We understand how difficult it is when your loved ones get to an age when they need some extra help.

“As a family, you can only do so much, and that’s where we can step in and make the time you spend together at home real quality time.”
