POLICE have arrested and charged two people after the recovery of cannabis plants in Bonhill.

Two men, aged 53 and 30, have been charged with being involved with the production of illegal substances after police found cannabis plants and other drug-related paraphernalia at their homes.

Police officers searched properties in Pappert, Bonhill and Montrose Street, Clydebank and Thursday and Friday following reports of drug dealing and misuse in the area.

Reports are being prepared for the procurator fiscal in Dumbarton.

Sergeant Colin MacDonald, of the Problem Solving Team, said: “Local people have consistently told us that drug dealing and misuse is a major concern to them – and support from members of the public is vital to our work.

“I would like to thank our community for their continued support in tackling these issues and encourage anyone with information regarding drug dealing or suspicious activity to please contact us."
