POLICE have issued a bogus caller warning to homeowners in Helensburgh and Lomond after arresting a man suspected of searching out vulnerable properties for criminal activity.
Officers were called out to Cove on Tuesday, January 18 after reports from two separate addresses in the area relating to a male attending and trying to sell goods.
The man was later traced and confirmed to police that he had been peddling goods for sale.
Following checks to confirm his identity, the 38-year-old from Nottingham was arrested for allegedly not having the required certificate to sell door-to-door.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were concerned that the male was attending at addresses under the guise of selling goods but was potentially looking to identify vulnerable properties for other criminal activity."
