Balloch is one of the top 10 trending UK destinations for an Easter break this weekend according to property hosting company Airbnb.

The village's proximity to Loch Lomond meant it was one of only two Scottish locations that made the in-demand “staycation” wishlist - along with Dunbar in East Lothian.

And Airbnb insists the trends found highlight that Brits, on the whole, are gearing up to explore seaside destinations as well as locations in the countryside to soak up the sun this Easter weekend.

Amanda Cupples, general manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb said: “The nation is set to enjoy the first Easter weekend without Covid restrictions in two years, and it’s great to see Brits are exploring up-and-coming areas of the UK to make the most of it. The top trending destination list provides ample inspiration for those looking to get away and explore a new place over the long weekend.

“By visiting these local destinations, Brits are supporting local economies and communities, and for those based in these destinations who are considering listing their Home on Airbnb, now is a great time to sign up.

”Properties in the region that use Airbnb to host visitors include a five-star rated riverside apartment that sleeps four guests at £180 per night and a cottage for six people equipped with a log burner and hot tub in Luss at a whopping £424.

The full list was based on people searching for domestic travel and checking in between April 8 and April 24.
