Herbalist Nicky Brownrigg led two walks around Geilston Garden in Cardross, providing participants with plenty of fascinating and useful information about plants growing freely in the woodland which have culinary or medicinal uses.

Not only was this a very hands-on session, but participants were also treated to a salad of wild leaves and flowers and some very tasty stuffed tomatoes and dips/spreads containing many of the plants Nicky had identified.

A spokesperson for the Friends of Geilston, which organised the event, said:”It was a real joy to be in the hands of someone with such expertise and all were very appreciative of the amount of preparation Nicky had put into the session.”

There will be an opportunity for a family-focussed walk with Nicky, again looking at the variety of herbs to be found at Geilston, on Tuesday, August 3. See the Friends of Geilston website - friendsofgeilston.org - for more details.
