A MANAGER at a Loch Lomond hotel and holiday resort has been named as one of the most inspiring young leaders in the hospitality sector.

Laura Dunphy, training and development manager at Cameron House, was named as a winner in The Caterer’s Acorn Awards for 2022.

Laura began her career as a banqueting server at Cameron House while still at school and continued working at the hotel throughout her studies at Glasgow Caledonian University before joining the graduate training programme run by the Principal Hotels group.

She worked her way through the company’s ranks, holding several HR roles, before being recruited back to Cameron House in 2021.

Since the she has created a new training strategy which has seen her train up 75 new department trainers over 15,000 hours.

Jennifer Jurgensen, director of human Resources at Cameron House, said: “In more than 30 years in the industry Laura’s achievements are some of the most impressive I have encountered.

“In the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, she has demonstrated her ability to navigate through extremely challenging situations, all while maintaining a fun and personalised approach.

“At 29, Laura’s career in the industry is still young, and she inspires our considerable under-30 workforce of what you can achieve in hospitality.”
