DUMBARTON Football Club have unveiled the special home and away kits players will wear in the club's 150th anniversary season - and there's more than a slight nod in both to the club's rich history.

The kits were modelled for the first time by members of Stevie Farrell's 2022-23 squad at The Rock this week ahead of a special launch event.

The home kit sees a return to one of the club's most iconic outfits - the all-white strip with three narrow bands - two black and one gold around the chest, worn in the late 1960s and at the start of Sons' centenary year in 1973.

Variations on that design been tried on a number of occasions since, although the 2022-23 version is closer to that 1960s original than any of those revival attempts.

The away strip, meanwhile, harks back to one of Sons' earliest known kits, from the 1870s and 1880s - a plain navy jersey with white collar, white shorts and red socks.

The club has also decided that for the 150th anniversary season there will be no sponsor logos on either the home or away jerseys.

The new kits will be officially launched at an event at the stadium on Thursday, June 30 from 6-9pm, with players and management present.

The club shop will also be open at the June 30 event for supporters to buy the new kits and other merchandise to mark the club's 150th year.

Bar 72 will be open from 6pm to 9pm on the evening, with bar service available, and admission is free.

First team players and management will be there to meet supporters, and the coaches and players from the club's new under-17 and under-18 teams will also be in attendance.

You will also be able to purchase or renew your season ticket for the campaign ahead if you haven't done so already.

As part of the anniversary celebrations there will also be a special tour of the stadium on Sunday, July 3, led by club historian Jim McAllister and looking back at the 150 years of the club's story - click here for more information.

The 26-year-old has extensive experience in League 2, having played for Stirling Albion, Elgin City and Cowdenbeath in addition to two spells at Cliftonhill.

Assistant manager Frank McKeown told the club's website: "Declan has proven that he knows where the goal is and we look forward to seeing him do that for us."
