A FAMILY fun day aimed at Tullichewan residents has been postponed.

Tullichewan Tenants and Residents Association (TRA) has pushed back the fun day until summer 2023, citing the "lengthy" process of getting permission to use the land at Bannachra green space area as well as licensing approvals for inflatables, live music and non-Tullichewan TRA stalls.

In a social media post announcing the postponement of the August 13 event, the association also highlighted its difficulty in getting permission from West Dunbartonshire Council's environmental health team for food provision and waste storage.

Looking forward

Harry McCormack, Tullichewan TRA chairperson, said: "I would like to stress that this is a postponement, not a cancellation, with the lesson learned is giving ourselves more time to prepare for such a big event.

"Therefore, discussions for next summer will begin in January rather than April/May. I know many will be disappointed, but we will use this experience to make the fun day next year a success."

Meanwhile, Tullichewan TRA is planning to host two mini-events at the Tullichewan Community Flat.

On Saturday, July 23, there will be Bric-a-brac stalls selling books, DVDs, CDs, clothes and a prize bingo is due to take place.

Then on Saturday, August 27, a “craft mini-event” takes place, featuring similar stalls and a raffle.

All proceeds will go to the Tullichewan Community Fund.

Free tea and coffee will be available and both events will run from 11am to 4pm. Donations for the bingo and raffle would be much appreciated.

Mr McCormack added: "I would like to thank once again the tenants and residents for your continued support. Without you there would have been no TRA.

"Additional thanks to West Dunbartonshire Council (including Jane Mack and Hanne Thijs at Tenant Participation) as well as umbrella group West Dunbartonshire Tenants and Residents Organisation (WDTRO) for support.

"I would also like to thank Allan Wright for the kind donation of £250 which has gone into the community fund.

"We wish Mr Wright well in his semi-retirement and special thank him for all the support he has provided Tullichewan TRA in the past."
