A DUMBARTON woman’s salon has continued a successful run of awards and nominations with a big win at the Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards (SHABA).

La Rouge, owned by Lynsey Robertson, scooped the prize for best beauty salon at the awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow last week, after being nominated in the same category at the 2019 SHABAs.

The award follows nominations at the UK Hair and Beauty Awards in March, and second place in the microblading expert of the year at July’s British Beauty Awards.

Lynsey, who lives in the town’s west end, and her team were delighted to bring the award to the salon, which is based in Helensburgh, after facing strong competition from larger towns and cities.

She said: “We looked at the competition and saw we were up against big, top class salons but we were just happy to make the final.

“There were 350 entries so just to make the top ten was good enough. But it was amazing, we couldn’t believe it.

“The night was so good that we almost forgot that we were still waiting on our category. It was a shock, but a good one.”

Amid the current economic climate which is proving challenging for small businesses, Lynsey hopes the recognition can give the salon and its staff a boost.

She added: “I’m hoping that this will be good for business as well. Things have picked up but building it back up after lockdown has been really hard. I have seen a wee change though so hopefully this gives us a boost too.

“Thank you to all of our clients for voting for us, being loyal, and sticking with us. We’re lucky to have good clients, all of them are really lovely.”
