Tickets for "the biggest cycling event ever" - including races at Loch Lomond - have been released.

But fans have complained of having difficulty getting a ticket.

The first-ever UCI Cycling World Championships will take place across Glasgow and parts of Scotland between August 3-13 this year.

The men's under-23 and women's elite road races will both start in Balloch.

Demand for tickets for the different races is expected to be high, and pre-sale tickets went on sale on Friday morning - exactly six months until the competitive cycling begins.

However, people looking for tickets took to Twitter to complain about queues and not being able to buy a ticket.

One wrote: "Something about Brits and queueing," alongside a picture of a computer screen detailing them in the queue.

Another said: "UCI World Champs pre-sale going well so far. I’ve been placed in a queue and have been sent a unique ID from 'Rugby League World Cup 2021 Ticketing Team'.

He later added: "Update: I got the “It’s your turn” email but it just takes me back to the same page saying I have been placed in a queue. How am I meant to buy tickets?"

Another commented: "Ditto that. UCI Cycling absolute shambles of an organisation, is nothing if not consistent".

Overall, the championships will feature 11 days of "exceptional, non-stop cycling action" including 11 world championships across seven disciplines.
