Around 100 suspects have evaded being arrested across West Dunbartonshire for dozens of different crimes – including more than 20 across Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven.

Figures exclusively obtained by the Reporter reveal there are currently a total of 21 outstanding arrest warrants across the area.

The data was provided by Police Scotland following a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Two of the warrants are for assault, with one person wanted in the Balloch area and one being hunted in Old Kilpatrick.

Three people are wanted for breach of the peace offences, two from Alexandria and one from Dumbarton.

Six drivers have an outstanding warrant for minor road traffic offences, whilst police are searching two people for the charge of possessing an offensive weapon.

Two warrants relate to sexual aggravation, with a further two people wanted on suspicion of theft and two for drug use/supply.

Superintendent Murray Starkey, Criminal Justice Services Division, said: “The enforcement of outstanding warrants is a priority for Police Scotland as we seek to keep people safe.

“All arrest warrants are prioritised according to the risk and we will use dedicated resources and intelligence techniques to pursue and locate those who pose the greatest risk of harm and threat to our communities.

“Those facing arrest should be aware that we will follow all lines of enquiry and utilise all available resources to locate individuals as soon as possible.”
