PLANNING bosses have been asked to grant permission for a new driving theory test centre in Dumbarton - though work at the site has already begun.
Gerald Eve LLP have lodged plans on behalf of the DVSA to turn an empty retail store in the town's High Street, formerly home to The Flooring Studio, into a driving theory test centre.
The plans for the development include six testing stations, an invigilation pod, a private test room and a waiting area.
It is set to be the first theory test centre for learners in West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute, as currently learners have to travel to nearest test centre in Anniesland.
In the application submitted to West Dunbartonshire Council, the developer has stated that work has already begun - but has not been completed - on the building at 86-88 High Street, while the gov.uk website already lists Dumbarton as an available option in a search of local postcodes.
