VOLUNTEERS across West Dunbartonshire are set to be celebrated as part of a new competition.

The Volunteer Awards were recently launched in an effort to thank those who make their local communities a better place.

The initiative will recognise the dedication, kindness, and hard work of volunteers across the region.

It will run for six weeks closing on Monday, May 22.

Winners will be announced during volunteer week which takes place between June 1 and June 7.

Pam Gosal, Scottish Conservative MSP for West of Scotland, launched the new competition.

She said: "Volunteers are the backbone of our communities. Many services in our local areas would not be able to function without the dedication, hard work, and kindness of volunteers.

“These unsung heroes support services that make a genuine difference to people’s lives.

"So this year, we are holding Volunteer of the Year Awards for both East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire to celebrate the fantastic volunteers who make our communities a better place.

“The competition is now open for any member of the public to nominate someone they think should win.

“Please get involved so we can recognise the fantastic volunteers across East and West Dunbartonshire.”
