Organisations in Dumbarton and the Vale are being to encouraged to apply for funding to help young people this summer.

West Dunbartonshire Council has £100,000 of funding to support SHINE (School Holidays Involve Nurture & Engage) projects for the fifth year.

The initiative was created in 2019 to work with community organisations to increase the provision of free social activities for school pupils in the local authority.

Last year, more than 10,000 children, young people and families participated in 18 SHINE initiatives including arts and crafts sessions, sports, games, breakfast/lunch clubs and family activities.

Funding is available to not-for-profit constituted groups, who will provide free activities to children, young people and families in West Dunbartonshire between Monday, July 3, and Friday, August 4.

The deadline for applications is May 5 and more information can be found on West Dunbartonshire Council's website here.
