A VALE youngster has been told he will go to prison if he carries on misbehaving.

Paul Paton appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court for a community payback review after he damaged both a gate and fence by kicking them at Dempseys Public House and Colquhoun Drive on July 23, 2021.

We previously told that during the incident, the 22-year-old also repeatedly kicked and punched cars and a wall in a rage.

When police arrived to arrest him he struggled violently with them, attempted to pull away and refuse to stop his behaviour while shouting racial comments and uttering threats of violence.

Paton also admitted to hurling racist abuse at cops during the first Covid lockdown.

He pushed bins over as he was shouting abusive comments towards police officers at his former home in Northfield Drive, Alexandria, on April 19, 2020.

When Paton, of Golfhill Drive, appeared in the dock last week, he pleaded not guilty to a further charge from February 26, 2023.

He was accused of kicking the doors of a police van, spitting, repeatedly uttering threats of violence and homophobic remarks whilst in a police vehicle from Old Academy Way in Dumbarton to Clydebank police station.

The court heard Paton still had a number of unpaid work hours left.

At the hearing Kenneth McGowan, defending, said: "It is disappointing given the fact that there was quite a positive report the last time. He has secured employment.

"He knows the consequences of continuing in this fashion. He is going to take steps to ask his employer to allow him to time to complete [the unpaid work].

"He is aware that [this behaviour] cannot continue. He does not have a significant amount of hours left which is why he thought he could take some time off and refocus."

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said: "If you want to go to prison just carry on doing exactly what you're doing. There is no need to make any changes or do anything any differently then in a month's time I will send you to prison."

A further CPO review was set for July this year.
