TRNSMT organisers issue warning ahead of Glasgow Green festival

Festival manager Colin Rodger revealed that Police Scotland would step in if anyone went against the entry criteria. This comes after under-16s have been banned from the event due to new rules.

The warning was issued as the site was being built in Glasgow Green today ahead of kick-off on Friday. 

Colin said: "Young people under the age of 16 should not chance coming into the event.

"We have a set age limit and having a fake ID is illegal in Scotland and you can get handed over to the police. That is the process that we have got set up. 

"Young people should follow the rules and not chance it. Those over 16 should also make sure their behaviour, once they are inside, is acceptable. 

"We've listened to our audience from last year and now, we have put these rules in place." 

Colin also revealed that strict security will be in place for those attending the festival. 

He said: "We want to make sure that everybody gets in safe and has a fantastic, safe time.

"There will be some very specific checks at the entrances, so people should download tickets in advance to queue-ing and bring proper ID with them. 

"There will also be a security search, and bags will be searched (no bag bigger than A4 will be permitted). 

"There are some additional checks as well for those who have started the party a bit early.  

"Everyone should read our information on the TRNSMT website, and not be disappointed if they are turned away for not following our rules."

TRNSMT organiser, Geoff Ellis added: "We have ID checks and if you look under 25, you will be ID'd at all the bars. 

"We do know what fake ID looks like. We recovered quite a bit last year and we will do the same this year. 

"We would say to people to come with a good attitude and come to enjoy yourselves. 

Geoff also urged fans to check the wide variety of music.

He said: "Pulp headlining on Friday is going to be pretty awesome and having Sam Fender on Saturday and The 1975 closing on Sunday will bring in some big attraction. 

"But there are also lots of gems across the different stages with the likes of Terra Kin, Swim School, and Bob Vylan. All of these relatively new acts are worth checking out too. 

"It's not just about the Becky Hills and the Aitchs, there's some real gems, so make sure you head down to the King Tut's stage and such too.

"It's important for us to have the smaller and bigger acts. I remember having Gerry Cinnamon and Lewis Capaldi playing before anyone knew who they were. 

"It's great to be able to nurture the superstars of tomorrow and future headliners, as well as provide a platform for those smaller artists.

"We're really excited about the festival, we really can't wait."

Colin continued: "The line-up this year is amazing. 

"We want to make sure everyone has a great time. 

"We have no concerns at all for this weekend. We are on a purpose-built site and the ground is excellent. 

"This is a great site, with great facilities. I'm really positive that we're going to have a fantastic weekend here in Glasgow Green."

TRNSMT will run from Friday, July 7 until Sunday, July 9.
