TWO TALENTED Dumbarton youngsters have been named as July’s sports stars of the month.

Cody Russell and Katie Ryden, both pupils at Braehead Primary School, have been praised by Active Schools for their incredible sporting achievements.

Cody has worked extremely hard to overcome many barriers prior to being chosen to play for Rangers Football Club disability team.

The determined schoolboy attends training weekly and has played in many games with the team travelling all over Scotland.

Cody also plays bowls at Dumbarton Bowling Club and was recently awarded the runner-up medal in their junior section.

He is very enthusiastic about sports and has been praised by Braehead Primary School for being a fantastic role model to his peers.

Katie recently achieved the title of Scottish Juvenile Champion for both song/dance and tap.

She currently holds 11 championship titles across her dancing categories and has a passion for dancing and performing.

The talented dancer is keen to share her skills with others and regularly sings and dances at school assemblies.

An Active Schools West Dunbartonshire spokesperson said: “A big congratulations from Active Schools and all at West Dunbartonshire Leisure!

"The Active Schools Team is always looking for volunteers to help get children in West Dunbartonshire more active, more often so get involved!”
