Dumbarton and the Vale police officers have promised a day of free family fun when they host a community event in Levengrove Park.

The afternoon, set for September 9, will see various interactive stalls as well as lawn games and food vans as part of a plan to boost engagement in the Dumbarton and the Vale area.

Tagged as Blue Light Day, the ever-growing list of contributors on the day include police horses and dogs, traffic police, mountain rescue, a fingerprinting team, historic vehicles, the British Transport Police, the Ministry of Defence, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the coastguard.

Area commander Chief Inspector Ryan McMurdo will also be there and willing to speak to members of the local community.

Helensburgh First Aid, the Scottish Ambulance Service, Trading Standards and the SSPCA will also be there to show those in attendance exactly what they do.

The Blue Light Open day is between 12pm and 4pm on Saturday, September 9.
