A MAN smashed a glass ornament whilst shouting derogatory remarks at his girlfriend in Dumbarton.

Konor Niven, 20, admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards his then-partner at a property in Cumbrae Crescent South.

He pleaded guilty to smashing a glass ornament, repeatedly kicking the external door of the property, and uttering offensive and derogatory remarks towards his now ex on October 29 last year.

Niven, of Mosshead Road, Kilmarnock, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court for sentencing on August 8 where his lawyer explained that he had already been placed on a community payback order from Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

It was also heard in court that this case was previously deferred for Niven to be of good behaviour.

His defence solicitor Kenneth McGowan said: "He has expressed that the relationship is very much at the end and does not want to rekindle."

Sheriff Maxwell Hendry said: "I will bring this matter to an end today by making two orders."

Niven was ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work in the community within 12 months.

A non-harassment order was also imposed to prevent him from contacting his ex-partner for four years.
