RESIDENTS across West Dunbartonshire are being warned of a new text message scam.
Scammers are said to be posing as West Dunbartonshire Council.
People have reported receiving messages asking them to “send pictures of housing issues”.
The local authority said it is aware of the scam and has issued a warning to local residents.
A statement reads: “We are aware that a scam text looking to be from West Dunbartonshire Council asking you to “send pictures of housing issues” is making the rounds.
“Any texts which are sent from WDC will state that they are from the council with a reference number, these will always be no reply texts, we won’t ask you to send a message or click on a link.
“If you have received a suspicious-looking text and are not expecting anything from WDC or is not in relation to your enquiry, please free forward to 7726 or take a screenshot with the number showing to report@phishing.gov.uk.”
