A BUSY stretch of the A82 will close for overnight roadworks this month.

Essential work to replace the central reserve filter drain and CCTV drainage surveys will be carried out on the A82 between Stoneymollan roundabout and Barloan roundabout from Monday, September 11 until Saturday, September 23.

Trunk road maintenance firm Amey says the work will benefit around 4,500 vehicles using the route each day by improving drainage, protecting the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.

The work will be carried out using overnight closures and signed diversions will be in operation.

There will be five overnight closures between 8pm on Monday, September 11 and 6am on Saturday, September 16.

Traffic Diversions - here's what you need to know

There will be a complete closure of the southbound carriageway of the A82 between Stoneymollan roundabout and Lomondgate roundabout.

Diversion 1: Traffic will be diverted to the A811 and continue to the roundabout at the A813 junction. Traffic will then take the third exit onto the A813 and follow Carrochan Road, Main Street and Stirling Road to Lomondgate Roundabout.

The second closure will take place on the A82 southbound on the on-slip from Renton.

Diversion 2a: Traffic will be directed to continue along Renton Road A812 to the B857 via Main Street, Bank Street, North Main Street and Luss Road to the roundabout at A811 Lomond Road. Traffic will then take the third exit onto the A811 to follow Diversion 1.

Alternatively, traffic will continue along Renton Road and turn left onto Glasgow Road and continue to the roundabout at the Church Street junction. Traffic will then take the fifth exit and head back along Glasgow Road, turn right onto Renton Road, and follow Diversion 2A.

Drivers should also expect offside lane closures on the A82 northbound between the Lomondgate roundabout and the Stoneymollan roundabout.

There will also be five overnight closures between 8pm on Monday, September 18 and 6am on Saturday, September 23.

The first complete closure is on the A82 northbound between Lomondgate roundabout and Stoneymollan roundabout.

Diversion 1: Traffic will be directed to exit Lomondgate roundabout to the A813, then turning left on to the A811 and continuing on to Stoneymollan roundabout.

Then there will be a closure of the A82 northbound off-slip to Renton.

Diversion 2: Traffic will be directed to exit Lomondgate roundabout to the A813, then turning left on to the A811 and continuing on to Stoneymollan roundabout. Traffic should then take the first exit on to the A82 southbound and continue to the Renton southbound off-slip.

And there will be offside lane closures on the A82 northbound between Barloan and Lomondgate.

It is also expected to be progressive offside lane closures on the A82 southbound between Stoneymollan and Barloan.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.

Amey says the work is weather dependent, and "may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable".
