A ROAD closure in Dumbarton has been extended due to "unforeseen circumstances".
We previously told how Station Road between Church Street and Meadowbank Street would be closed to traffic from December 11 to December 15 during the hours of 7am to 5.30pm.
However, an updated letter issued to residents yesterday states that the closure will now need to remain in place overnight due to "unforeseen circumstances with the existing road structure".
It reads: "Due to unforeseen circumstances with the existing road structure, the road closure of Station Road and College Street will need to remain in place overnight.
"Additional works will be taken to ensure the road closure will be operational only between the hours of 7am to 5.30pm commencing December 12.
"The unforeseen circumstances will not affect the planned finished date of December 15 at 5.30pm."
The works are taking place to facilitate the renewal of the road surface and to install new white linings on the road.
Exceptions will be made for emergency service vehicles during this period and pedestrian access along Station Road will be maintained.
