A MAN has been fined £160 for trying to impress new pals by having cocaine, a court has head.

Jordan Feeney, of Mossgiel Drive, Clydebank, previously pleaded guilty to resisting, obstructing or hindering three police officers and trying to flee from them on March 17, 2023, in Strathleven Drive, Alexandria.

He also had cocaine in his possession.

The 20-year-old returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on December 29 for sentencing where the court was told it was three bags with a total of about 2g worth of cocaine.

Feeney's defence solicitor said her client had recently been put in homeless accommodation.

"He was new to the area and very isolated," she said. "He was trying to make friends in the area and make himself more popular, which he understands he didn't at all do.

"He was on his way to a party when he was arrested."

He has since stayed away from those he associated with at the time.

"This is a one-off," added the lawyer. "He was using this as a coping method and trying to make friends but has since stayed away from drugs."

Sheriff Euan Cameron imposed a £160 fine plus a £10 victim surcharge.
