MSP Jackie Baillie is backing Scottish Apprenticeship Week after meeting with apprentices at West Dunbartonshire Council.
The annual event, organised by Skills Development Scotland, emphasises the value of work-based learning for people of all backgrounds and ages, as well as for employers of all sizes and countries.
The Dumbarton constituency MSP said: “Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for people to learn new skills whilst in employment. “They offer excellent opportunities for those looking to change course or to learn new skills and are a valuable way of creating skilled workers for the nation’s services.”
The 2024 Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which ended on March 8, recognised apprenticeships as a means of developing Scotland's future skilled workforce.
West Dunbartonshire Council employs about 60 apprentices each year, mainly within the Building Services team.
