A local MSP has pledged her support for Armed Forces veterans by backing the launch of Poppyscotland's 2024 appeal.

Jackie Baillie MSP joined Presiding Officer Alison Johnson and Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar at an event in the Scottish Parliament.

Poppyscotland is a charity that raises money to support veterans and Armed Forces personnel in Scotland.

The annual poppy appeal is a significant part of Poppyscotland's fundraising efforts, generating more than £2 million each year.

This takes place before Remembrance Sunday, which serves as a national reminder of the sacrifices made by those who served.

Ms Baillie, the MSP for Dumbarton, said: "I was delighted to lend my support to the launch of Poppyscotland’s 2024 appeal.

"The organisation does so much to support forces personnel and provides lifeline services to those who have served, are still serving and their families.

"I am only too happy to back the work of Poppyscotland, in tribute to all those who have given their lives in the service of our country."

The appeal's fundraising poppies have been made by disabled ex-service personnel at Lady Haig's Edinburgh factory since 1926.
