As West Dunbartonshire’s MP I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone across Clydebank, Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven doing their bit to keep our communities safe.

No part of our lives has been untouched by the impact of this terrible pandemic. For those who have lost loved ones this will be an especially difficult time, as it will be for families feeling anxious about their jobs, businesses and livelihoods.

In times of adversity the people of West Dunbartonshire always rise to the challenge. That strong sense of community spirit has got us through hardships in the past and it will do so again.

Small acts of kindness can and do make a big difference, particularly for those dealing with loneliness or isolation.

Whilst we couldn’t all be together this Christmas, and cannot gather at New Year, it’s important that we keep doing all we can to look out for friends, loved ones and neighbours. Let’s stick with it - for ourselves and each other.

As we look forward to 2021 we can do so knowing that there will be brighter days to come.

I wish all my constituents across West Dunbartonshire a very happy and healthy New Year.
