The Vale boss spoke of his delight as six different scorers netted, namely Gary Stillwell, William Brown, Kenny Wilson, Mark Pawsey, Mark Bowie and Gordon Martin.
And with Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Thornton Hibs looming, he said: “It was important to pick-up from where we left off last weekend.
“It was a good win and to see us fight to the last whistle, despite being so far ahead is pleasing, the boys know the show must continue.
“The boys did very well and if we have any ambition to get out of this division, we need to keep winning and the boys know that.
“To score six, with six different scorers, and Scott Arthur not to be one of them was nice and give us all something to build on.” He added: “Usually you get a bye in the cup, but we are looking forward to the game and hopefully can go on a run and do well.
“It will be tough, but something we are looking forward to being involved in.”
