DUMBARTON boss Ian Murray was pleased that his side managed to extend their unbeaten run to five games and notch up another clean sheet after facing a very good away performance from Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

The Sons drew 0-0 with The Championship’s bottom side and while both teams had chances to win the match, Cowdenbeath had the better of them and might feel they should have come away with all three points.

Murray said: “I thought they were good, I thought they were excellent actually. They have come here and played really well they will probably be disappointed they haven’t won.

“Likewise for us but I think overall we can’t have too many complaints because we could’ve lost the game. On the flipside we could’ve nicked it with Archie’s chance. I think both teams will feel a mixture of happiness and disappointment.

“I think it is a better point for them because they have come away from home. Eight days ago they were on one point with no wins and now they have five points, so they’ll look at that as a fantastic return from the two games.” The Sons manager insists his side can take positives from the result, having got something from the game without having played well, saying: “Looking at the five games we’ve had we are happy with it, we’re not jumping about but we are happy and today we’ve not played well and come away with something.

Dumbarton now head into a tricky run of fixtures which will take them away from home in four of their next five games, the next three matches being against big guns Hibs, Hearts and Rangers.

Murray concedes the run will be tough but thinks the trip to Easter Road next week gives his team a great opportunity to go above Hibs in the table after they were held by Raith Rovers on Saturday.

He said: ”It’s going to be tough for us. After seeing Hibs result there we know if we win that game we will go above them so it’s not all doom and gloom. We have got a hard run but every team has that this season and they are certainly games where we can take points.”
