Gartcosh United 0 – 0 St Pats FP St Pats played out a goalless draw in their pre-season friendly against Gartcosh United at Eastgate.

Both sides had numerous chances to win the game, but strong goalkeeping displays from both sides ensured the scoreless draw.

This was the first time the two sides had faced each other for nine years, after previously playing each other regularly in the Scottish Amateur League.

The first half was a quiet affair for both teams, and the game sparked into life with David Allan firing in, only for his celebrations to be cut short for being offside.

The game began to open up in the last 20 minutes, with Neil Allan’s powerful strike forcing the Gartcosh goalkeeper into making a terrific save – tipping his effort just over the bar.

The Gartcosh young goalie, who was standing in for the injured Scottish Amateur Internationalist Stuart Wilson, saved a Jason Hart free-kick and a close range attempt from Patrick Hainey.

The hosts’ best opportunity came through their number 10, who cut open the Saints defence, however, his effort drifted agonisingly wide of the target.

Meanwhile the GG team recorded a 2-1 win over Ashfield Victoria, the goals coming from Anton Sharp and Ryan Deeley St Pats would like to thank Stuart Hegarty for the invitations and hospitality and also wish new manager John Hughes and his team all the best for the coming season.

Next week its Caledonian League time again when we visit old friends Milton FC, while the GG team take on John Street.
