Viewfields 0 - 7 Dumbarton Academy

DUMBARTON Academy completed their league cup group section with victory against their Division 1 counterparts, Viewfield, winning 7-0 last Tuesday.

Braces from Callum Shipcott and Jack Buchanan and goals from Andrew MacDonald, James Crowhurst and Craig Darroch sealed a comfortable win in the Douglas League Cup.

The hosts also had Declan Lilley sent off after an off-the-ball swing at Accies’ Alan Gourlay, leaving the referee with no option but to send him in for an early bath late in the first half.

The home side, however, had the first chance to score after 12 minutes, when Sam Dillion broke clear, with Leo Daremas making a goal-line clearance.

Accies then got their first after Buchanan fired in a cross after 25 minutes.

Accies doubled their lead through MacDonald with a fine left-footed shot.

And after the sending off of Lilley Accies began to dominate proceedings.

As the game wore on the visitors began to dictate the play, and scored two quick-fire goals after 50 minutes.

Shipcott and Buchanan were on hand to score after some nice build-up play by the visitors.

And Crowhurst topped off a good display by sealing his first goal for the club, after his initial effort was saved.

Shipcott added his second before Darroch capped off proceedings, firing in from 10 yards out from Colin McPhee’s pass.

Dumbarton Academy 3 - 0 Gartcosh

Dumbarton Academy’s strong start to the season continued as they picked up their third straight league win of the season against Gartosh, winning 3-0.

Craig Cavana, Andrew MacDonald and James Crowhurst sealed the victory for Accies, which sees them continue their strong start to the Caledonian League Premier Division.

Accies started on the front foot, with Callum Shipcott shooting over early on before Cavana diverted Alan Gourlay’s free kick in after seven minutes.

The visitors had a spell of possession afterwards, and almost equalised through Daniel Kinlan.

However, Accies began to grow into the game and after 55 minutes, MacDonald got Dumbarton Academy’s second as he rounded the Gartcosh goalkeeper to score.

Andrew Scanlon saw red for the visitors, before Crowhurst got the final goal.

Accies next game is away to Dalziel in the league on Saturday.
