Dumbarton Accies progressed to the third round of the RJM Sports Scottish Amateur Cup thanks to a strong second-half showing and 1-0 win at home to Port Glasgow.
It was a quiet first-half for both sides with Port defender Peter Williamson’s straight red the only real action.
Accies increased the tempo after the break and looked to have grabbed the opener only for Andrew MacDonald’s effort to rattle back off the woodwork.
Accies continued to search for their opener and hit the bar once again with Tom McHard’s effort going close.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to go after MacDonald reacted quickly in the area to force a shot home from eight yards and secure his side’s progress.
