It was a tough weekend for Loch Lomond Rugby Club’s U13 and U14 sides as they welcomed Dalziel to the Dillichip.

Both matches ran simultaneously which made for an exciting day of rugby.

Dalziel play in a tier above them in the league and their quality shone through in their match against an U13 side already depleted by the loss of key players through illness.

The visitors opened the scoring early on and it was a sign of things to come with Dalziel crossing the line four times in the opening period.

Loch Lomond fought back bravely with some good play but the visitors ran out 57-16 winners.

On the other pitch, the U14 side got off to a stuttering start after having not played together for several weeks.

Lomond did look better once they settled but they failed to turn this into scoring opportunities as Dalziel scored themselves.

Late consolation tries from Declan Gillen and Lewis McElney showed what the team were capable of but Dalziel were deserved winners on the day.
