Dumbarton United 2005s continued their fine form at the weekend as they defeated a strong Linwood Rangers side 4-1 at Vale of Leven Academy.
Both teams started strong with neither team having any clear cut chances until Linwood scored from open play after 27 mins. Linwood then continued to trouble Dumbarton but some fine saves from goalkeeper Adam Daly kept Dumbarton in it until a fine solo effort from Derek Wilson pegged it back to 1-1 going into the break.
Like in the first half, both teams came out fighting at the start of the second half but kept canceling each other out.

At 1-1 and with Dumbarton’s midfield having worked tirelessly during the first half, two substitutions were made to freshen up the midfield and it wasn’t long before one of those subs, Connor Hamill, scored Dumbarton’s second from a fine shot from the edge of the 18 yard box.
At 2-1, Dumbarton then went on to dominate the game as Linwood tired. Some good pressing play by Ryan Murray on the Linwood centre backs, resulted in a short back pass back to the Linwood keeper who scuffed his clearance and Murray slotted home for Dumbarton’s third. The scoring was topped off by Kristian Zetocha who netted Dumbarton’s fourth and final goal with a fine strike.
