Vale of Leven manager Brian Brown couldn’t hide his disappointment as his side failed to get out of the starting blocks before succumbing to a 1-0 away loss to St Anthony’s on Saturday.
The previous week, Brown had been effusive in his praise for the Millburn Park men as they returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 win against Carluke at home.
But the gaffer admitted his side had instead probably put on their poorest performance of the season this week after St Anthony’s took an early lead at McKenna Park.
He said: “It was an excellent performance and victory the week before, so it was exceptionally disappointing. We just never really got going at all.
“We definitely look like a different team when we are away from the Millburn. It’s been an issue all the way through the season that we can’t find the same form and style of play as what we get at home.”

With a trip to take on Johnstone Burgh at Keanie Park next up for third-placed Vale, Brown will be hoping his men can do something to rectify this issue this Saturday.
He added: “We are not completely out of it yet. The four games we have got left, there are no easy games in amongst all that lot.
“We have more challenges in front of us, but we need to try and finish off the season as positively as we can.”
