Dumbarton Riverside 2004s head coach William Miller has spoken of his pride after his side finished their season with an incredible 100 per cent record to lift the PJDYFL division three title.

The youngsters kicked off their season with a 9-3 win over Drumchapel back in August and didn’t look back after that, scoring a remarkable 123 goals throughout their 20-match winning run.

A 4-1 win over Rangers Girls last month saw them crowned champions before they rounded off their season with a 4-2 win away to Hillwood Thistle earlier this month.

Miller, who has coached the boys for more than eight years, said: “They are a great bunch of boys. There are five teams in the league all capable of taking points off each other but we treated each game like a cup final and have really pushed every match.”

What makes Riverside’s run even more impressive is the fact that it was the club’s first season at this level after competing in the Dunbartonshire development league last year.

However, the youngsters handled that step up with aplomb and now find themselves promoted to division two with Miller confident they can replicate this success.

He added: “My hope is to allow the boys to continue this kind of football in the second division and push for the title.

"Year on year we have got stronger and stronger and we want to test the boys against tougher opposition

“I hope the boys take pride in what they have done and a realisation that no matter the opposition we will always have a chance at winning.

“Ultimately, I want them to feel what it is like to win and try and make that a habit.

"Years down the line I want them to look back at a great achievement for them and their team.

“We would like to think we have an environment that the boys want to be in and enjoy.

“I would also like to mention coaches Derek Tillery and John Biglie. They are both great role models for the boys.”
