Vale of Leven made it four league wins from five at the weekend with a convincing 4-1 victory away to Annbank.

Vale were held to a draw against Yoker last Wednesday but Lewis King opened the scoring at New Pebble Park with just one minute on the clock before Brian Brown’s side went on to dominate proceedings.

Despite being in control, Vale’s second didn’t arrive until the 69th minute with Scott Cowan doubling the lead before David McNaught and Sean Stewart added the third and fourth either side of Annbank’s consolation.

“We’re delighted with that,” Brown told Reporter Sport. “It’s really difficult place to go so we’re happy to get a big three points away from home.

“We’ve been asking the boys to get out the blocks quickly and they did just that with a first minute goal at the weekend. That’s pleasing to see. After that we were in total control until we got our second.”

Unbeaten Vale now sit two points behind league leaders Forth Wanderers having played a game less with sides set to meet this weekend.

Brown added: “Forth this weekend will be a really difficult game. They’ve started really well this season with five wins from six but they’re coming to the Millburn. We’re always looking to take maximum points at home so it should be a good one.”
